SUPPORTS SMALL BUSINESS

• Led a $1M grant program for Camarillo Businesses and $1M Business Loan Program
• Cut Red Tape by implementing the “Business Concierge” position at city hall to assist businesses & entreprenuers set up shop in Camarillo
• Began the “Get To Yes” program to help small business overcome challenges
• Streamlined & updated the permitting/licensing process

REVITALIZATION

• Tourism – focused on projects that would help increase our local foottraffic to support small surrounding buinsesses and help bring in additional tax dollars. These programs/projects include:
  1. KidSTREAM Museum
  2. Camarillo Convention Center
  3. Visit Camarillo
  4. Dizdar Park
  5. Central Plaza Project
• Old Town – Susan ensured we had community input into the Old Town Strategic Plan, and brought together local stakeholders to work collaboratively. She has also focused the council’s efforts by encouraging projects in the heart of Old Town, like the Dizdar Park revitalization, seeking the Old School property for revitalization, investing in local events like Heritage Days, and making sure that Old Town residents are heard and listened to when it comes to plan for the airport.

JOBS

• Supported COSTCO and other businesses that are large employers with high pay/benefits
• Supported “Choose Camarillo“ a program focused on actively recruiting Biotech & life science companies – this is currently in place and working!
• Supports Community Workforce Agreements – to create policy at the city level that ensures that future city projects will prioritize hiring local workers & paying fair wages.

• Fights Airport Noise & Pollution
• Stopped the Airport Expansion
• Led 100% Green Energy level adoption from the city through Clean Power Alliance
• Protects Our Water – fighting for legal, equitable access, and investing in our inrastructure
• Street Improvements Made – updated the Traffic Signals to be coordinated so that traffic can be safer (fewer accidents) AND it means less time with cars idling which has many benefits:
  1. less money spent at the gas pump
  2. less pollution & fumes in our neighborhoods
  3. less congestion on the road, reducing our time spent in cars
• Major Infrastructure Investments
  1. Our Waste Water Treatment Plant is beyond it’s expiration date, we need committed council members who understand the need for investments & the need to flush our toilets!
  2. Installed EV chargers throughout the city
  3. Electrified the City Vehicle Fleet
  4. Installed Solar & Back Up Battery at various locations to protect our ability to communitcate during power outages
• Brings In Funding – Susan knows the imporatnce of seeking and winning outside fuding from Federal & State programs and grants to support our sustainability & infrastructure goals. She works hard to get those dollars and put them to work for all of Camarillo. 

While on the council, Susan has 3 things in mind:

2. Collaborative & Sustainable Efforts
3. the Health & Wellness of Camarillo residents

She has supported:

• Healthy Camarillo, an initiative to increase the health & wellbeing of community members
• Increasing pedestrian safety by supporting new crosswalks and signals in areas with children
• Maintaining community character in all developents
• Decreasing Traffic, increasing number of Bike Lanes, & Promoting Walkability
• Creating safe places for our kids to grow like
  1. Dizdar Park
  2. KidSTREAM Museum

Compassionate Leadership:

• funded Meals on Wheels, when Federal funding was cut
• funded FoodShare when 12% of Camarillo was food insecure
• Reduced Homelessness by 23% by funding Project Hope, creating more Affordable Housing units, Supporting identified demographics when they are at risk of becoming unhoused

She has been our champion:

• Stopped the Unwanted Airport Expansion
• Fights Against Airport Noise & Pollution
• Cares for the most Vulnerable in Our Community
• Sustainability is Susans focus, both fiscally and environmentally
• Started the Public Art & Mural initiative
• Creates Housing Options, so that people in all transitions in life can afford to:
  1. Stay in Camarillo when they want to downsize
  2. Build a life here with a family or as a new college graduate
  3. Gain stability when they trying to get on back on their feet
